Acer Aspire 6935G and 8930G notebooks with Centrino 2 incoming
Acer Aspire 6935G and 8930G with Centrino 2 incoming. The range of Gemstone Blue laptops, including the first Acer laptop screen 16:9 movie from 16 and 18.4 inches, finally meets upgrade to the latest Intel mobile platform, Centrino 2. The new models, direct descendants of previous Acer Aspire 6920G and 8920G, will buy the abbreviations 8930G and 6935G with 16 inches with 18.4 inches. As has happened at the launch of the first models based on Intel Santa Rosa platform, both series should include a lineup of four models each, which will occupy a range of prices in the market to meet your budget and tastes of all users.

The main changes compared to the Santa Rosa models consist, apart from the introduction of the new Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset and Intel Centrino 2 Penryn processors, a general updating of sub-graphs. The Acer Aspire 6935G and 8930G will continue to use graphics solutions produced by the Californian chipmaker Nvidia: previous NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS and the 9650M GS will be replaced by far more powerful GeForce 9600M GT and 9700M GT, both with 512MB of GDDR3 memory, respectively, based on G96 and G94 chips.
Intel may be working on a dual core Atom chip for netbooks
Since day one, Intel’s Atom chips have come in two flavors: desktop and mobile. While the desktop chips have come in dual core and single core versions, the Atom chips designed for netbooks and other portable devices have traditionally been single core only. But it looks like that could soon change.PC Inpact reports that Intel may be working on a dual core Atom chip for netbooks. It will reportedly be called something like the Atom N500, which makes sense, since the latest dual core chip for desktops is called the Atom D510 — and most of the company’s netbook-specific chips have started with the letter N, such as the Atom N270, N280, N450, and N470.
Up until now, any PC maker that wanted to build a laptop with a dual core Atom processor had to use a desktop chip such as the Atom 330 dual core CPU found in the Asus Eee PC 1201N. But those chips tend to draw more power and generate more heat than chips designed for netbooks.
Bear in mind, even with two cores, an Atom chip is an Atom chip. They’re designed as low cost, low power alternatives to beefier processors. As such, I’d expect the Atom N500 to be a little faster than a single core Atom processor and better at multitasking and other tasks which can benefit from multiple cores. But don’t expect miracles.
There’s no word on how much the Atom N500 would cost or when it would be released. And right now, this is just a rumor, although PC Inpact reports that the information comes from companies that work with Intel.
Asus Eee PC 904 netbook: a first look closely
About a week ago, Asus has brought to Italy the new Eee PC family members, and in particular models Asus Eee PC 1000H, 901 and 904HD. Recall that the month of October, the series will add the version Eee PC 1000, with an LCD module and 10-inch SSD for data storage. The real innovation of the last launch of the company in Taiwan is undoubtedly the Asus Eee PC 904 netbook, which can be considered a product of transition between version 900 and 1000.
Equipped with an LCD screen 8.9-inch, l ‘Asus Eee PC 904 is built on a chassis of a typical model Eee PC 1000, 10.2 inches, with a larger keyboard and an Intel Celeron. The design recalls the founder of the family, Eee PC 701, with which it shares the position of the speakers at the sides of the display. Our colleagues MobileComputer have had the opportunity to get their hands on an early copy of Eee PC 904, bringing out its strengths and weaknesses.
Intel Dual Core Atom N500 Series For Netbooks In the Works
Word from Intel partners has reached PC Inpact about an upcoming new dual core processor from Intel, for netbooks!
Up until now, only the desktop / nettop bound processors (330, D510) have been dual core.
The dual core Atom processor for netbooks will be in the N500 series. That’s all the info that is given. We have no clue when these will appear, if ever. Can’t be any time soon though as the next upcoming Intel Atom processors will be the Atom N455 and N475 for the upcoming Eee PC netbooks we saw at CeBIT.
