Dell lets loose Studio 17 laptop with multitouch display

Dell sure is adding multitouch to quite a few products these days, but it isn’t exactly doing it with much fanfare on every occasion. The latest to slip into availability is an updated version of the company’s generously-sized Studio 17 laptop, which is now available with a 1,600 x 900 display that boasts full multitouch and arm-tiring abilities. Otherwise, you can expect to get the usual wide range of configuration options, including your choice of Pentium Dual Core or Core 2 Duo processors, a maximum 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, integrated Intel or discrete ATI graphics, and an optional Blu-ray drive, among other standard fare. Some of those options will obviously bump the price up considerably, but things start at just $899 — look for it to start shipping on December 4th.

Dell’s Adamo XPS now on sale starting at $1,799

Dell’s slimmest laptop ever still isn’t shipping out to eager consumers, but at least the Win7-packin’ Adamo XPS is now configurable over on the outfit’s website. The base $1,799 configuration includes a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo SU9400 CPU, a 128GB solid state drive, 13.4-inch WLED panel, 2 megapixel camera, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, GS45 integrated graphics, WiFi and a USB Ethernet adapter. Unfortunately, hardly any of the components are upgradable, but there are a few select upgrades available for those with the cheddar. The scary part? That December 22nd estimated ship date. Better spring for overnight and cross those toes!

Screen Grabs: Dell’s Latitude Z keeps ‘Parks & Recreation’ intern busy

Screen Grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today’s movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com.

Man, Dell’s making a serious push to get its wares out to the masses this fall. Just days after we spotted an Adamo chillin’ in House M.D., a shiny new Latitude Z has now been spotted in NBC’s own Parks & Recreation. Granted, we can’t actually see that any work is being done (the default blue wallpaper isn’t exactly telling), but when you’ve got Amy Meredith Poehler running the grandiose city town of Pawnee, Indiana, you can only expect so much. But hey, look on the bright side — we’re pretty sure the proceeds from eBaying that Latitude Z would more than cover the flora she purchased while under the influence, wouldn’t you agree?

[Thanks, Andrew]
